Sunday Styles no. 76

Fashion Week is on the horizon, folks. You know what that means? I go missing for about 10 days and work crazy hours. (I get the flu after almost every season, but I'm hoping to avoid that this time.) This would also explain why I didn't get a chance to post this past week. (Was in NYC for work...go back Thursday...back on a plane to NYC on Wednesday - oy.)

Meanwhile, my goal this season is to pack as little as possible but still look good. I just don't have the patience to pack a billion things. (I've broken off enough luggage handles at this point...I'd like to avoid that happening again.)

It's going to be all about mixing and matching a small amount of clothing to create 10 days-worth of looks. This should get interesting. Not surprisingly, I'm hyper-focusing on great tailoring, interesting silhouettes and a lot of neutral colors. I've gone into pre-planning mode. I'm so type A that I generally have all my outfits planned for each day of the week...which saves me a lot of time in the morning...but also gets looks of alarm and suspicion from others when I tell them.

For now, here's one of the few looks I'll be wearing during the week. You can't go wrong with black on black. A leather (or faux leather) midi pencil skirt (that's not crazy constricting so I can eat and sit...two things I put as priority over anything else when finding clothes these days) is a great basic and a boxy, but structured sweater makes the overall shape more interesting.

Combine that with a shoe with clean lines and you're set. As for not wearing tights during February in NYC? Two words: embrocation cream. (Look it up...I might have just completely changed your winter-weather fashion game.)

Well, off to spend a bunch of time neurotically planning what I'll be packing and working. Wish me luck! I'm hoping I can get some time outside to enjoy the weather before the day is done. Hope you're all having a fantastic and relaxing day!
