Sunday Styles no. 74

Ok, people. If you know me, you know I work NY hours which means weekends are a challenge in terms of trying to have any kind of social life because I start getting sleepy around 9:30pm. Pathetic, I know.

But it was Charles' birthday yesterday and I wasn't about to not organize a celebration in his honor. That being said, I also know that we're all busy and have brunches and dinners and other parties to attend, so we decided to host a very casual "come meet up with us at this rooftop beer garden between 9pm and midnight" shindig at a local spot.

Unfortunately, the night before we stayed up till 2am (which is basically 5am for me), playing video games and I got a really bad night of sleep because I tried slapping a lot of Olaplex in my hair and wearing a shower cap through the night. (A.k.a a cold, damp head and plastic, crinkly noises every time you move.)

...BUT the good news is the celebration was a success. Being around friends we love and adore kept us awake and alert for the three hours of pints, various German sausages, birthday shots, cigarettes, laughter, catching up, and a few epic gifts. (Shout-out to Bates for that set of Dune trading cards from the 80's...and for trying one of the 25 year old pieces of gum and not dying.)

...but that brings me to today...

I woke up at 8:30am, which is by my Type A, neurotic and east-coast-houred standards, laaaaaate. And I had also forgotten what it feels like to have two late nights in a row, one of which is spent half yelling to have a conversation with a lot of cigarette smoke whirling around.

I'm tired. I have rings under my eyes which barely ever happens and I feel like I need to drink two gallons of water in order for my body to properly reconstitute. Lovely, right?

So, I'm going full-on casual. BLUE jeans (which I rarely wearing...though I'm starting to warm up to them a bit more...Charles really likes them), white Stan Smiths and one of my favorite navy, crewneck, thin knit, wool sweaters...and sunglasses. Imperative in this crazy LA sunshine.

This Sunday is all about being really comfortable without looking like you crawled out of a dark, dank hole. I feel that way on the inside, but to hell with letting that affect what's going on on the outside.

Now, we're off to brunch with dear friends and try to do as little as possible in the activity department. Hope you're all having a relaxing Sunday and don't feel as rundown as I do! (Let's face it, I'm completely out of practice.)

A Note About the Clothes: All Saints Zavi Sweater (no longer available), Madewell Skinny Skinny Jeans (here's the closest I could find), Adidas Stan Smith Shoes (Fairway)
