F-F-Fashion Week: Day 1

Hello from Fashion Week! I made it through Day 1, doing my actual day job and managing to snap some inspiring photos of New York Fashion Week attendees after work hours for you. Things are, to say the least, nuts...but in a good way.

So, what was I able to snap for you? Well, let me start by saying that Fashion Week in February always seems slightly less fashiony when it comes to the attendees...generally because it's cold outside and people are more concerned with keeping their fingers and toes from freezing off than being fashionable.

However, there are exceptions...those who are somehow fashionable AND stay warm at the same time...and I was able to seek out some of these mystical creatures for you. So, who did I find?

This gorgeous creature stepped out of a dream. Her hair? Colored extensions, braided and bunned. A mix of textures and colors that few could pull off. I loved it! Well played! (I'm golf clapping here.)

You might not be able to tell because of my failure at color-correcting and it's late and I'm tired (whine, whine, whine)...but these pumps were neon pink and sculpturally to die for. Hey, I'm a child of the 80's. How could you expect me not to love these babies!

I love a play on proportions and this magical one was pulling it off beautifully. I'm a sucker for whimsy and between his Where-the-Wild-Things-Areian cap to his oversized coat to his super-platformed creepers, I was breathless. Monochrome + proportion play makes my heart flutter!

Speaking of proportions, this look got me excited! This fashionista was wrapped in an oversized scarf that practically consumed his upper body. Combine that with his cropped slacks and polished shoes and I was a goner. Again, proportions! And a baseball cap to boot. We all know how I feel about those these days.

And last, but certainly not least is this handsome gentleman. His name is Alexander Liang, founder & editor-in-chief of Kenton Magazine. Not only does he sum up what I love about menswear in a single, light-colored swoop (and thank goodness for that since practically everyone was wearing black), but he gave me a serious case of lock-envy. Oh, how I long to have that hair! I'm hoping in time...once I grow what I've got long enough to donate it.

And there you have it. Day 1 at Fashion Week in NY. With any luck, I'll be able to get more shots tomorrow. Busy day ahead, but it's all part of the fun, right? I'm doing my best to not be jaded. It's just too cliché. Oh, and how can I be jaded when things like this happen?

Me and My Asian Soul Sister, Katy

Sidenote: There's a snow storm on the way, apparently. Party!
I mean, thank goodness for that. New York has been way too balmy up until this point anyway. (SarcasmSarcasmSarcasm...)

Alright. Off to bed I go! xo!
