My dearest...My favorite...My beloved...

"Whoa, whoa, whoa...wait a second...Really?!" was what I thought when I saw a comment from Nina of the oh-so-fantastically-entertaining-&-fashionable Le Fancy Geek (sidenote: Nami-loves-dashes!!!) on my blog right after landing in NYC, bleary-eyed and exhausted from the coast-to-coast flight.

"Hey Nami! Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for a Liebster Award!"

Liebster is a German word that literally translates to "dearest", "favorite", and "beloved"

Let me start by saying that being nominated for anything makes me feel special. (This includes things like "best wife award" which I get once a week for doing something like making ramen or having an impromptu dance party a la PeeWee Herman...which may or may not have happened this morning when Husband Charles was giving me my requisite have-a-good-day hug n' smooch.)

The difference is, the "best wife award" is usually awarded to me by...myself. So, having someone nominate me for an award. Well, that's a whole new level of "OMG" for me. Not only that, but to be awarded by someone as amazing as Nina...well, let's just put it this way. The first time I read Nina's blog, it was a post where she was wearing a Darth Vader sweatshirt. I immediately showed Husband Charles her photo and screamed, "I have a girl crush! We would totally be besties if she lived here!" In short, Nina is a wonderfully gifted writer with sartorial flare & a rapier wit and I'm honored.

So, what does this all mean?

Here are the rules for when you're nominated...
  1. Shout out the person who tagged you
  2. Post 11 random things about yourself
  3. Answer the 11 questions the tagger set for you
  4. Choose 11 bloggers to nominate for Leibster awards and link them to this post (or as many as you can come up with)
  5. The 11 bloggers you choose must have low follower numbers (think under 200 followers or around there)
  6. Create 11 questions for the 11 bloggers to answer in their Leibster Award posts
  7. Go to their blogs & alert them that you've nominated them
  8. You cannot tag the blogger who has tagged you
So, yeah, kinda intense! Ready? Here we go!

Nina's 11 Questions & My 11 Answers

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
The power to talk to & tame wild animals. I know, I know. There are so many super powers that I could choose from, but I've always had a fantasy of walking around and shooting the breeze with a tiger or hanging out with a bunch of otters and learning how to crack shells open with rocks. And, seriously, my life would be so much easier if Mr. Merlin could just tell me how he's feeling and why he insists on shredding toilet paper and leaving piles of it under the coffee table.

What are you currently obsessing over (TV show, movie, product, piece of clothing, etc)?
The Eye Has to Travel, a documentary about one of my heroes, Diana Vreeland. I was able to carve out an afternoon, post-work, to go to the local Sundance theatre and watch it. All I can say is, my heart soared and I was smiling ear-to-ear the entire time. Absolutely fantastic and a must-see! You'll be inspired, I assure you.

What is the first album you ever owned?
Love Songs (The Beatles)
It was on vinyl and I played it on my toy record player...looking back, now I understand why I was such a hopeless romantic growing up.

If you were told you were adopted, who would you hope your biological parents would be?
Charles & Ray Eames, obviously! I mean, isn't that everyone's answer?

What 3 items must be inside your purse at all times?
Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Carthage (instant face brightener & teeth whitener)
Altoids Smalls in Peppermint (never underestimate the power of good breath)
A pen or five (I tend to scribble quick notes to myself when my brain is working too quickly and I can't be bothered with the touchpad on my phone - autocorrect is a nightmare when I'm trying to get thoughts down quickly.)

Which do you prefer: coffee or tea?
Coffee. Lattes to be more specific...espresso counts as coffee, right?

What is the last book you read?
Completely? The Tiger's Wife by Téa Obreht

Where do you seek fashion inspiration from?
Soldiers, sailors, European school boys, French New Wave movies, and my mother.

If your life were a TV show, what would be the theme song?
Hands down, without questions, With a Girl Like You by The Troggs

Which celebrity would you want as your BFF?
Sir Ian McKellen. He'd probably get annoyed because I'd jokingly (but lovingly) call him Gandalf all the time...and, eventually, his annoyance would melt into endearing hugs and high-fives because, quite frankly, that's what BFFs do. I think there would be a lot of Scrabble and eating of macaroons involved in our magical relationship. Can you tell I've fantasized about this for quite some time?

How did you come up with your blog's name?
For a long time, I had considered myself a "medium enthusiast" because I enjoyed writing, illustrating, photographing, painting, graphic design, and even things like bookbinding. It made sense...but two things became very clear when the blog happened:
  1. When people think of "medium" they don't think of artistic mediums, but psychic mediums
  2. I'm enthusiastic about a lot of things...not just what materials I'm creating my projects out of
I decided over a breakfast burrito on a Sunday afternoon that I would deem myself a "Life Enthusiast"...Husband Charles agreed that it made more sense. I'm enthused about too many things to put myself into a box. So, that's how it happened. Ya know, just in case you were wondering why my Facebook Page url is (I'm still cursing myself for making that decision too quickly!)

11 Blogs/Bloggers I Nominate for the Liebster Award
First things first...I'm sure you can see that there aren't 11 people on this list...Well, to tell you the truth, I'm still working on finding 3 more blogs. I'm just being honest...and I didn't want to wait too long on posting this. Rest assured, when I find the other 3, I will be sure to add them to my list! For now, you'll have to just be patient with me and enjoy these 8.
(NOTE: I'm going by Bloglovin' & Facebook follower numbers here...if I mistook you for having under 200 followers & you have more, I apologize! Let me know if you want off the list!...I mean, really, I just wanted a chance to tell you I think you're wonderful and to ask you questions!) And for those of you who didn't know I was following...I know, I know. I'm such a stalker!
For those on the list who haven't updated in a while, this is me saying "please update!!! I like your blog!"

Alright, back to being enthusiastic about life! xo!

  1. OMG, Sir Ian McKelllan is such an amazing choice for a celebrity BFF! I bet he'd give great high-fives (my bf and I are high-five enthusiasts), and he'd probably take Sir Patrick Stewart to your Scrabble games, so then you'd get him as a bonus BFF! And thanks for saying all those kind things about me, I think you're quite swell too >^___^<

    1. OMG, Patrick Stewart as a bonus BFF!!! I would probably force him to say "make it so" and "engage" over and over again...

A Scrabble game with Ian McKellan & Patrick Stewart...I think both Husband Charles and I would die of happiness. I mean, really, what could possibly be better than that? I could go on forever about this.
