Hair, There & Everywhere: My Top 5 Hair Go-To's

I got some positive feedback on my last beauty post, so I'm gonna go ahead and indulge you guys in more of my secrets. (Man, so much for being a mysterious woman. I might as well sky write all the products I use!)

Someone will say, "maybe she's born with it?" and the response will be, "nah, I read her blog posts."
Oh, well...better to share the knowledge right?

Much like I have make-up that I can't live without, I also have hair products I can't live without. Ok, I can live without them, but I would be a very sad, grey, less shiny version of myself if I didn't have them. (Oh, Nami, stop being so dramatic. - insert hard eye roll.)

FYI, that's an old photo of me! I figured I should stick with the "Me Pointing At Things" theme!

So, without further ado, here are my top 5 hair go-to's:

Oh, look! More super-convenient links for you:
Now for the fun part where I get to tell you why these things have changed my life and all the possibilities they hold for you & your luscious mane in the future!

NEWSFLASH! I just received a challenge from fellow blogger, Beauty Frosting! I need to write my product descriptions/tales/reviews in 250 words or less! Let's see if I can do it! OK, GO!

TRESemmé Split Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioning Spray

If ever there was a miracle cure for split ends and overall dullness, this is it!

I have blah-tendency (is that a word? it is now!) hair due to continual blowdrying and a serious addiction to bobby pins. Gone are the days of glassy, lustrous locks from my youth...until now! Split Remedy claims that you can get rid of up to 80% of split ends in as little as 3 uses and, with continual use, you can avoid split ends all together. To add to that, I'd like to say that it also helps with making your hair smooth & shiny all over!

I found that using all three products together gives me the best results. Direction are easy: shampoo/rinse, condition/rinse, spritz on damp hair, comb through and style as usual.

Now, what was the real reason I stuck with these products?

(Close your eyes...well, no, if you do that you can't read...so, just try to imagine this scene...)

We're in a bedroom, late morning, where a young Los Angeles couple chats casually in their morning stupor. Suddenly, mid-chat, the husband stops to say, "whoa, your hair is looking super-shiny and healthy!"

Can you guess who the couple was? Can you?! It was me and my husband!!! (I know. That was so obvious it hurt.)

My husband, generally, does not notice things about my hair aside from "short" or "long." So, when Charles (he has a name!) said my hair was noticeably shinier & silkier, I was floored...and what's even more amazing was that he was so totally right.

This product line works. Period. End of story. Go try it out some time!

Aura Cacia Organic Jojoba Oil

I have been using this jojoba oil FOREVS. Jojoba oil is one of the closest oils to human sebum (that's the oil your skin produces.) It works great everywhere (body, face, hair.) If I didn't think being excessively oily every waking minute was unattractive or a real social handicap, I would sit in a vat of this stuff all day long..and with the colder, dryer months ahead where the lack of humidity in LA makes me turn into the beef jerky version of myself (not saltier or tougher...just dryer), this is an absolute must for my moisturizing arsenal.

When your ends are feeling especially parched, take a small amount - I'm talkin' a nickel-sized puddle - in your palm, rub your hands together and run your fingers through your ends while your hair is damp. If you do this on dry hair, you'll end up looking like you dunked your ends in melted butter. A tasty look, perhaps, but not a good one.

Protect yourself from dryness and becoming a beef jerky version of yourself! Try Jojoba oil!

T3 Blowdryer w/ Attachments

Good gravy, I love this machine! I got my first T3 back when I was just freshly out of cosmetology school and at my very first IBS. (No, not Irritable Bowel Syndrome...I wouldn't want to be there! It was the annual International Beauty Show held in NYC!)

There's a lot of science & technology talk behind the T3 products, but I'm just gonna go ahead and call it magic. I'm almost certain they employed wizards to create this styling equipment. I won't get into the details. What I will tell you is this: it will dry your hair faster and is far less damaging.

In addition to the wonder that is faster blowdrying, if you get the concentrator nozzle & diffuser attachment, you're golden. Concentrators are great for making hair shiny and straight. Diffusers are great for creating more volume, maintaining texture and keeping curls from frizzing. (I don't have curls, but I wish I did! I know, I know, the grass is always greener.)

From the minute I laid my hands on my T3, I've never looked back. Ours will be a long road stretching into eternity...an eternity filled with great hair that's dried fast and styled better.

My Round Brush

If there's one brush that everyone needs, it's a round brush. There are tons of brushes out there, but the one I use most is my trusty round brush.

I can use my round brush to create volume at my roots, smooth/straighten any kinks, tame my bangs (a.k.a Crazy Cowlick Prefecture), and direct my ends...which LOVE to flip out - a look I despise with many fibers in my being. Maybe not all the fibers, but a good amount of them. It slices! It dices! It's julians! In short, one of the most versatile brushes you can own.

Not sure which type to get? I found this interesting blogpost about different types. Check it out. The only thing I have to make sure of is that the brush head isn't too heavy. (Heavy brush head + Nami's thin wrists = Nami's hands basically breaking off.)

So, invest in a good round brush! Your hair will thank you by being awesome.

............................

So, that's that! My top 5 hair go-to's. Nothing too complicated and all easy to get your hands on. Hope you get a chance to try them out and be sure to let me know how it goes if you do! xo!

THE WORD COUNT RESULT: The product descriptions/side stories/reviews alone were over 830 words. Looks like I failed that challenge miserably. Sorry to be so long-winded. I'll try again next time!

  1. Fail. Miserable - yet, delightful - fail. Regardless, I love you more than my luggage.
I must feature this next week on BeautyFrosting, pretty please?

See how that goes? When something doesn't stick, I just keep throwing it at the wall.
